Lindsay Pinkney
Co-Founder and Managing Director
Lindsay Pinkney BEd, MIOPsy, CPHR is a Co-Founder and Managing Director at Twin Tax by Pinkney.
Lindsay moved to the United States in 1995 to pursue her bachelor and master’s degree while competing in NCAA Division 1 for track and cross-country on a full athletic scholarship. Lindsay’s career path includes working with local Wood Buffalo indigenous bands in 2001 to 2004, Tax Preparation for four years, and two years with Syncrude Canada based at site. Additionally, she has 16 rewarding years in various human resource leadership roles for Imperial Oil in Calgary.
Lindsay’s impressive background and experience in education, psychology, athletics, the energy sector, human resources, corporate leadership, taxes, and financial services all contribute to her well-rounded expertise as Managing Director at Twin Tax by Pinkney.
In 2023, Lindsay, Kristi, and Wayne established Twin Tax by Pinkney.
Kristi Pinkney-Hines
Co-Founder and Director
Kristi Pinkney-Hines RN, BSCN, OHN, is a Co-Founder and Director at Twin Tax by Pinkney.
As owner of Hines Health, she provides medical services in the Oil Sands, recruits healthcare workers for Alberta, and serves as the first female Board Chair of the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce. In 2025, she will be the Executive Committee, Board Chair of the Alberta Chamber of Commerce. In November of 2023, Kristi was recognized by the Women’s Executive Network as Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards, in the category of Entrepreneurship-Founders & CEO.
In 2023, Kristi, Lindsay, and Wayne established Twin Tax by Pinkney.
Wayne Pinkney
Co-Founder and Owner
Wayne Pinkney BEd, BComm, MEd is a Co-Founder and Owner at Twin Tax by Pinkney.
Wayne moved the Pinkney family to Fort McMurray when he took the post of Principal at Peter Pond Junior-Senior High School in Fort McMurray in August of 1975. After 20 years as a school administrator, Wayne decided on an early retirement establishing Pinkney Financial Services in 1995. In 2022, Wayne received the Business Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce for his Financial Services provided to the community.
In 2023, Wayne established Twin Tax by Pinkney with his twin daughters, Kristi and Lindsay known as, “the Pinkney Twins”.

Our Team
Wanda Blackwood
Wanda Blackwood is a Senior Tax Preparer at Twin Tax by Pinkney.
A native of Corner Brook NL, was raised in the picturesque town. Celebrating 48 years of marriage to her husband Karl, she is the proud parent of three daughters who have blessed their lives with six wonderful grandchildren, forming a close-knit and joyful family.
In 1973, Wanda Blackwood graduated from high school and subsequently completed a Business Administration course. Her journey into the world of Income Tax began during this period, as she started providing tax services for family and friends. Over the course of 35 years, she dedicated herself to the finance and insurance industry until 2009, when she worked as an Income Tax Preparer in Fort McMurray.
Guided by the belief that success is the outcome of hard work, Wanda has consistently demonstrated her commitment to excellence. Her passion for engaging with people and working with numbers has been a driving force throughout her career. A mature team player with a strong sense of reliability, she thrives in challenging situations.
Having found a welcoming family at the Pinkney Financial Services, Wanda cherishes the supportive and inclusive environment that mirrors the values of camaraderie and teamwork. She is thrilled to work with Twin Tax, an affiliate to Pinkney Financial Services.
Ilse van der Merwe
Ilse van der Merwe is the Tax and Accounts Manager at Twin Tax by Pinkney.
Ilse was born and raised in South Africa. Ilse completed her primary and secondary education in Port Elizabeth. After completing her studies, she graduated from the University of the Free State with a Bachelor of Accounting Degree. While at university, she achieved membership in the esteemed Golden Key International Honor Society.
Ilse mainly worked in the International Telecommunications industry and held Accountant and Financial Accounting Manager roles in various countries. She also facilitated government-based policies and had a significant role in audit management throughout her career.
In 2017 Ilse and her family decided to relocate to Canada for a more stable and prosperous future. After settling in Fort McMurray, she started her bookkeeping and tax preparation career and has gained over a decade of experience in the financial industry. Her interests include spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors, and meeting new people. Ilse has a favorite saying she lives by: “Life is like a bicycle. You won’t fall off unless you stop pedaling. It’s all about balance. Challenge your limits, but always remember that life is a journey, not a race.”
